Some notes i decided to leave off the main page, but figured would be useful to know:

1.) The Name

Granted you know me and clunky af, over technical names so sorry for all that

HOWEVER

“Animal Product Alternative” / “Meat Alternative” could lead one to believe/suggest that it is not of equal value or intended as a Substitute Good etc

The goal of EAPS is to have them be indistinguishable and/or BETTER THAN the Animal Product.

2.) What about Aquaponics / Chickens or Ducks or Geese / Cattle or Goats or Pigs in Conservation Grazing or Intensive Rotational Grazing etc?

I think these definitely have a place, and someone having some Fish/Chickens, or if they have the space Pigs/Cattle etc isn’t HORRIBLE in of itself. Others may disagree and call the line at ANY “use” of Non-Human Animals etc

I tend to follow the Temple Grandin kind of approach. As long as they have hapoy, healthy lives, and a quick death (preferably with unconsciousness beforehand, as well as Mininal Long Term Transport/Stress etc) it isn’t TOO big of a deal.

Especially in terms of Hunting the ethics get concerningly simple from a Utilitarianism perspective as the alternative is slow death without medical care, OR being Chased+Eaten alive a la Nature Documentaries.

STILL THOUGH i think the main use case for EAPS is for Suburban/City dwellers, where short of Urban Agriculture etc the Land Use+Time Requirements largely make anything other than Intensive Industrial Agriculture not capable of meeting the demands.

Also unlike a Rural area where you could visit the person+the animals and get a vibe check/develope a relationship etc, with a Grocery Store etc there are MANY layers of Plausible Deniability / places for one to look the other way while Labor, Non-Human Animals Rights, and Environmental issues are done.

Thus the goal is to make a product with NO POTENTIAL for those issues really (in a manner akin to Explosion Proof vs Intrinsically Safe

A Vegan Product, made on a (largely) Automated Factory Line, of Sustainable Traceable Feedstocks is far less likely IF CAPABLE of causing suffering/pollution/labor rights violations etc compared to an Animal (Likely raise in pasture, then cafo) + Meat Packing Plant “Disassembly Line”

My thoughts on this are Not ENTIRELY all fleshed out, but figured i’d get the reccord set straight on that quickly in case
