Santa Fe Institute was the first institute to study complex systems science. It was founded in 1984, paradoxically. Since then, about 50 more popped up worldwide.

OSE Context

For OSE's Civilization Systems Engineering - which is complex systems theory applied to building new civilizations - we should collaborate with a few key leaders in the field - on applied projects. OSE's strength is the applications of open source development techniques to solving pressing world issues. OSE's route is generating resources to engage in civilization scale engineering and build. This is similar to efforts of corporations such as Google etc - which focus more on technological systems rather than integrated systems. OSE's focus is actually building civilization-scale enterprises and institutions.
