Amongst other things,he is the creator of Seashellter and the originator of plasticrete, the innovative process of fusing single‑use thermoplastic film and bag waste with heated sand or other aggregate to form durable, waterproof building shells. Working largely as an independent experimenter and craftsman, Pete focuses on ultra‑low‑tech, locally replicable methods that transform contaminated, hard‑to‑recycle plastic into modular pods for shelter, habitat, and floating or terrestrial village infrastructure. His current work centers on open‑sourcing the plasticrete process and the Seashellter pod designs so communities can “grow” resilient, repairable structures directly from their own waste . He currently lives in Stamford ny with his wife and any number of cats.
