Basics
- A method for determining the Oil Change Interval , as an aspect of Preventative Maintenance , where the oil is routinely sampled (Potentially as a part of Motor Pool Mondays etc, as sampling during EVERY DIPSTICK CHECK for Pre-Trip Inspections is probably excessive) to do a Motor Oil Assay
- The oil is them changed and/or supplemented based on Additive Package content, Soot Buildup, Pyrolysis of the Oil/Impacts on Lubricity etc
- With enough of a collected Knowledge Base, this could be turned into a Recommendation (as the companies, if recommending the OCI in good faith, not Planned Obsolescence etc, ALTHOUGH the goal of Data Bases Oil Change Intervals is to “catch” anything a broad generalized recommendation would require.
- The oil is them changed and/or supplemented based on Additive Package content, Soot Buildup, Pyrolysis of the Oil/Impacts on Lubricity etc
Unknowns
- What lab gear is needed
- Cost of doing the test not in-house
- Minimum Sample Size (Re Theranos nonsense)
