Basics
- While reduction in use (switch to an ask only model/discount for bringing your own etc), and substituting reusable options ( Metal / Glass etc) is always preferable, to some extent the convenience aspect, and accessibility improvement may make their use still necessary in some applications
- THUS a biodegradable bioplastic version of the Plastic Drinking Straw is preferable
- While (Wax) Paper/Fiberboard straws exist, these turn to mush too fast to meet their function (re: Prompt Biodegradable vs Delayed Biodegradable etc)
COTS Options

- (Hopefully uncoated + bio ink labeled) Paper Wrapper
- Various colors, but most likely a PHA plastic base?
- BPI Compostable and TŪV Austria certified
- Need to check what specifications + if they check for Microplastics etc
- Also Marine Biodegradablity for the chance it gets lost/littered in a more wet environment
