- 7. I heard about this program through TedTalks like many others. I am applying for a Dedicated Project Visit because I want to see this Open Source Ecology succeed. I am #interested in Factor E farm because it is actually testing these theories.
- 8. Practical skills I have for this project would include familiarity with basic building and farming tools, such as saws, drills, wrenches etc. Also more advanced tools #like table saws, soldering irons, and belt sanders. In addition to my skills with tools, I also have a talent for repairing miscellaneous household devices, such as computers, #toasters, washing machines, coffee makers, and plumbing.
- 9. I have built desktop computers, shelves, desks, and a quarter-pipe ramp for skateboards.
- 10. I would say that my CAD and CAE skills are most useful to GVCS, I am very good at these programs, including Sketchup, AutoCAD, Catia and I can learn more if needed. #Also, I think I could help out with more physically demanding jobs like building and farming.
- 11. I am familiar with Ghantt charts, and use Google Calendar for most of my scheduling. Also, as far as digital organization goes I am a big fan of “tagging”.
- 12. I can cook. Raised in an Italian family, I can make a mean spaghetti bolognese, homemade pizza, and having worked at a wine store I can even recommend a good bottle to #go with either.
- 13. I can support my self financially while volunteering at FactorE farm.
- 14. I have no medical conditions.
- 15. I am very easy to get along with.
- 16. I am Roman Catholic.
- 17. Yes, I am a team-player, in fact, I love teamwork and collaboration very much! Although, when I am really being super productive, I tend to be working alone.
- 18. I do not smoke.
- 19. I have no dietary restrictions. I would eat meat raised on FactorE.
- 20. I have a car, but I will most likley fly from NY to Missouri and request a ride from the airport. Although, a road trip is not out of the question.
- 21. As a pioneer, I think I would work well. I enjoy camping, hiking and backpacking. Also, I have done forest service in Utah and Colorado. If need be I can bring some #materials (tarps, sleeping bag, mess kit, etc..) and create my own working environment.
- 22. I am very familiar with online wiki's. I can even offer introductory training in this area.
- 23. [video]
- 24. I would be available from May 19 to Sept 1.
- 25. If I am accepted and after the first month things do not work out I am open to changing or refocusing my efforts.
- 26. My goal for week 1 would be to:
- Week 1. Create my environment. Meet and introduce myself to everyone on site. Aquire materials for week 2. Take photographs of the farm and my workspace. Complete my week 1 blog entry. Create a digital representation of my workspace, including a rough topological survey. Dig E-Dome foundation.
- Week 2:
