Arduino Switch Mode DC Power Supply Requirements + Value Proposition

  • Using minimal components
  • Obtains dirty power for running motors
  • Serves as motor controller if adjustable speed
  • basic version is 0-120VDC, unfiltered
  • phase 2 is 0-120VDC, filtered for capping max voltage (say for running 12V devices sensitive to momentary spikes)
  • Basic design: wall power -> rectified -> Arduino switching with 1 transistor (ideally no active cooling outside of passive 4040 fan heat sink -> power output for lightbulb dimmer functionality or 120VDC motor controller capacity
  • Phase 2 - adds a capacitor to serve as a spike cap for running lower voltage devices
  • Has corresponding safety fuse for stable operation
  • Application - such as running a 24VDC or 12VDC 775 motor for shredder.
