Arduino Switch Mode DC Power Supply Requirements + Value Proposition
From Open Source Ecology
- Using minimal components
- Obtains dirty power for running motors
- Serves as motor controller if adjustable speed
- basic version is 0-120VDC, unfiltered
- phase 2 is 0-120VDC, filtered for capping max voltage (say for running 12V devices sensitive to momentary spikes)
- Basic design: wall power -> rectified -> Arduino switching with 1 transistor (ideally no active cooling outside of passive 4040 fan heat sink -> power output for lightbulb dimmer functionality or 120VDC motor controller capacity
- Phase 2 - adds a capacitor to serve as a spike cap for running lower voltage devices
- Has corresponding safety fuse for stable operation
- Application - such as running a 24VDC or 12VDC 775 motor for shredder.
