- One critique of John Greer's Ecotechnic Future. His whole premise of 'reduced energy use' in a future civilization is complete bunk. As I described to you, that is rather ignorant of basic physics (10000 times) - and the fact that now we have access to abundant photovoltaic energy at zero marginal cost - and things like thermal batteries will reduce human electric need 70% simply by water being used to store home heating/cooling. I do not like such misinformation - because it damages human psychology so much. It does not help civilization progress if we operate under incorrect mental models. The mental model of reduced energy use in the future has in my view nothing to do with reality and first principles science. How do all the collapsitarians continue to believe this? Is this their delusion? Ie, the weakness of the human spirit?
