Do you have to connect case drain for hydraulic motor?

A: At the maximum continuous rated flow and above, the shaft seal is only rated for approximately 250 psi. If the case drain is not used, the shaft seal will see pressures marginally above what the return line pressure is. If the case drain is used, the shaft seal will only see the return line pressure. It is always a good practice to hook up case drain lines when possible, but not necessary for this design unless excessive return line pressures are present or expected.link title
