Collaborative Capital
2023 Version
A form of capital centered on true, open collaboration. It is distinguished from Open Source Capital in that collaborative capital must be informed by a moral case for solving pressing world issues. Otherwise it remains either just another way to make money (such as open source software) or impotent in terms of producing scalable transformation, such as the free software movement, environmental movement, or the appropriate technology movement). We make this distinction because open source is not necessarily collaborative, but collaborative capital must be both open source and collaborative.
Read more about the distinction between open source and collaborative - and why we need both - at Open Source and Collaborative.
We propose true collaboration towards Distributive Enterprise - a socio-technical movement that centers around creating a new economic paradigm based not on scarcity, but abundance mindset.
While we invoke a 'moral case for solving pressing world issues' - we are not trying to be moralizing nor de-moralizing. We are aiming to be practical, in the sense that there are serious issues to address (such as the Metacrisis - which if we don't we run a real risk of not only civilization collapse, but potentially extinction including apex species. As such, we are quite encouraged by the amount of good work that can be done to inspire - from a First Principles understanding that abundant energy (10000 Factor) is available to solve all the problems if we want to.
