Commonwealth Fusion Systems
They are promising commercially feasible fusion in this decade, with $215M funding.
Laughable. Hey, all great progress is first laughable. I don't see this working because of radioactivity. Sure we can get fusion, but those pesky neutrons will make everything radioactive. Unless we produce no neutrons, which is not yet possible, even in aneutronic fusion. If someone can convince me that this will be environmentally benign, I'll join. Right now, this is only for incomplete humans who dismiss the radioactivity issue, in my opinion. But maybe someone will find a way to beat nature. Personally I doubt it, because if they had an inkling of how to beat nature, they would be talking about it - and none of their copy says anything about how they will deal with the radioactivity. I like their boldness. However, it appears to be hubris.
