Dig a pond create a CEB community

Every farm, homestead, small community needs water retention reservoirs. This can be for many reasons, irrigation to household water use. A pond or 2 is always a consideration.

A concept to be considered is utilizing that material for compressed earth block production to build structures or make available for sale.

5000 blocks take about 30 tons of earthen material.

To determine the cubic meters of soil needed to make 5,000 compressed earth blocks, the required amount depends on the block size and the soil content in the mix. Based on the provided information:

A typical Compressed Earth Block (CEB) is made with 92% to 96% soil and 4% to 8% cement. The V Lock Block (VLB), a common CEB size, measures 17 cm × 35 cm × 10 cm (0.17 m × 0.35 m × 0.10 m), giving a volume of approximately 0.00595 cubic meters per block. Therefore, 5,000 blocks would require a total volume of 5,000×0.00595=29.75 cubic meters of block material. Since the blocks are composed of 92% to 96% soil, the soil volume needed is between 92% and 96% of the total block volume. Calculating the range: 29.75×0.92=27.37 cubic meters and 29.75×0.96=28.56 cubic meters. Thus, approximately 27.4 to 28.6 cubic meters of soil are required to produce 5,000 compressed earth blocks, assuming a standard mix with 4–8% cement stabilizer and using the V Lock Block dimensions

A 1/4 acre pond 20feet deep can provide @

I'm cross referencing this with my texas instruments calculator.

To calculate the volume of soil that must be removed to create a 1/4 acre pond that is 20 feet deep, first determine the volume in cubic feet and then convert it to cubic yards, as earthmoving is typically measured in cubic yards.

A 1/4 acre pond has a surface area of:

4 1

×43,560 square feet=10,890 square feet

The volume of soil to be removed is:

10,890 ft 2

×20 ft=217,800 cubic feet

Convert cubic feet to cubic yards (since 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet):

27 217,800

=8,066.67 cubic yards

In Canadian that's 6167.43 m3

So if 1 ton of soil is calculated at 2m3 and 30 tons of soil creates 5000 blocks. Digging a 1/4 acre pond 20feet deep has the potential of creating 100 homes with blocks reserve.

30 tons of soil material creates 5000 bricks.

6167m3 ÷ 2 = 3083 tons

3083 ÷ 30 = @ 102 homes

Probably should stay in one measurement unit but I'm still learning American.
