Energy Statistics
From Open Source Ecology
- About half of home heating energy goes to heating water - [1]
- Buildings produce 30% of all CO2 for heating, cooling, and power. 15% of all global emissions is from heating and cooling of buildings. [2]
- Cars contribute to 10% of all carbon emissions. [3]
- Transportation contributes 20% of global emissions - [4]
- Cargo ships are only about 3% of overall emissions, and third largest in the transportation sector after cars and trucks. Cars and trucks are about 60%.
- But think about it: compared to all cars and trucks and transportation in general: buildings produce 3x more emissions than cars, and 1.5x emissions as ALL of transportation.
- This one says the built environment is 20% of all emissions. Cement and steel is 10%, with cement at 3%.
Conclusions
- Get all construction off grid (30%), do solar steel and concrete (10%), use Slow Solar autonomous hydrogen vehicles for transportation (20%), and go slow solar on agriculture (20%) and go hydrogen in industry (20%) for a total weaning off oil wars.
