We are currently developing an open source franchise model for the Seed Eco-Home - the modular building system at Open Building Institute. We will have our model house ready for touring by Jan 31, 2022. Our goal is to solve housing, and more broadly, to develop a method for open product development in general to transition the economic system from proprietary to collaborative. The open franchise model means that all of our IP including enterprise IP is published openly, where we monetize via a hybrid model that includes education, production, experience economy, and collaboration. We do not build our revenue models on scarcity-creation. Definite material for franchise, but there is huge innovation required in terms of how to run a franchise while remaining thoroughly collaborative.
