Glass Fiber
(Redirected from Fiberglass)
Basics
- Thin fibers of glass
- Can be used for Composite Materials or Optical Fiber
- Also if made into Glass Wool it can be used for Insulation
- "Although not as rigid as carbon fiber, it is much cheaper and significantly less brittle when used in composites." (need to double check this)
- Can be in the following forms:
- Continous Fiber Reinforcement
- Chopped Fiber Reinforcement
- Fiber Matting Reinforcement (Essentially a Non-Woven Fabric )
- Fiber Textile Reinforcement (may need to be changed to fabric? essentially woven with longer fibers than the matting, also thinner?)
