See below information on what we can use for floor and roof joists. I added some table for additional information. Let me know what you think
Per the 2018 IRC, assuming we are using Douglas Fur-Larch #2
- For Floor Joists (measured span from the drawings = 15’-1”)
- 2x12 @ 24”, for sleeping areas with maximum allowable span 16’-6”
- For Roof Joists (measured span from the drawings = 15’-1”)
- 2x10 @ 24” o.c. with maximum allowable span 18’-5”
- 2x12 @ 24” o.c. with maximum allowable span 21’-4”
- For Carport roof (measured span from the drawings = 16’-0”)
- 2x12 @ 12” For Douglas Fur
- 2x12 @ 16” for Southern Pine
