This form letter might be a useful tool for spreading the word about Open Source Ecology (OSE).

There are a variety of people out there. Some can understand the nature of OSE through a simple video online. Others will sort through forum posts and other's yet will traverse the wiki. Some people prefer a well written letter that clearly addresses their questions. Due to the variety of potential audiences, this form letter is modular in design. Each of the sections is designed to explain a different element of the project, cut and paste according to your need.

General 1

Open Source Ecology is a network of farmers, engineers, and supporters that has been imagining and creating the Global Village Construction Set, an open source, low-cost, high performance technological platform. It is being designed to allow for DIY fabrication of industrial machines used to build a sustainable civilization with modern comforts. The GVCS lowers the barriers to entry into farming, building, and manufacturing. It is like a life-size lego-like set of modular tools that can create entire economies.

General 2

A goal of OSE is to encourage the unrestricted development and distribution of information. Our particular emphasis is upon advancing the technological resources necessary to overcome the barriers to producing material goods. Our major project is the Global Village Construction Set (GVCS). The GVCS is an open source, low-cost, high performance technological platform that allows for the easy, DIY fabrication of industrial machines designed to create sustainable, modern communities and lower the barriers to entry into farming, building and manufacturing.
