How do we measure the performance of members of the HR team? The Scorecard, filled weekly, should provide this metric.

General HR Scorecard Parameters

"What gets measured, gets managed/improved/done."

  • Goal: Deconstruct HR recruiting efforts down into components related to tasks, dates, HR Recruitment Channels, counts. E.g., On January 1 direct messaged three individuals through Reddit re: FreeCAD documentation generalist volunteer opportunity.

This is tracking team size and effort over time:

  • Notes: hyperlink each point, so it's verifiable/collaborable
  • Place most relevant metric on top

HR Recruitment Pipeline

Most volunteers will follow the same path from initial interest to active work. Each step for each volunteer should be tracked to determine where potential volunteers are exiting the pipeline. Once suboptimal stages are identified, analysis and redesign can occur to enhance process outcomes.

1. Identify target community or individual

2. Post job description ad or pitch individual

3. Job applicant submission form page visited

4. Job applicant submission form submitted

5. Job prospect qualified based on submitted materials

6. Job prospect interview scheduled

7. Job prospect interview conducted

8. Volunteer position offered to job prospect with successful interview

9. Volunteer position accepted by job prospect

10. Job prospect reviews OSE Crash Course materials

11. Job prospect has kickoff meeting with team

12. Job prospect starts work

  • Facebook posts
  • Recruitment notes in Descriptions of YouTube or Vimeo videos
  • Prominent recruitment ads on OSE website homepage

Outbound Recruiting

  • Job boards
  • Volunteer boards

  • 1-to-1 targeted inquiries (e.g., Notice a passionate user via YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, etc. and message them directly about volunteer opportunity)
  • Local meet ups
