Most YouTube videos are crappy in that they contain useful information padded with a lot of fluff- dead space, irrelevant information, etc. Only a few YT videos are such that you want to listen to every single second, as every single second is captivating and useful.

To study YT videos quickly, the recommended procedure is:

  1. First, set the play speed of the video to 2. This automatically saves 50% off the watching time
  2. use the timeline to study content. When mousing over timeline, a preview is shown, which may take you more closely to the desired information
  3. Skip the playing in the video every 15 seconds - this will allow you to identify useful information quickly.

Such a procedure allows you to extract useful information from videos rapidly in 1/50-1/2 the duration of the video.
