Idle Reduction
Basics
- Numerous Systems (and Government Policies) aimed at reducing Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles Spent Running on Idle
- Reduces Emissions (Due to less run time, and thus less accumulated pollution (Although care to prevent Cold Start emissions, especially Diesel Exhaust Pollutants should be taken as well, via the appropriate Emissions Control Technologies ) and Fuel Use
Methods
- Auxiliary Power Units (Can be more efficient Generators than the main engine) (Similar concept but for heating coolant supposedly?)
- Cold Ironing (For ships. This is also typically used in the context of Container Ships , but it can apply to smaller ones as well!)
- Truck Stop Electrification
- Idle management/control
Internal Links
- Efficient Energy Use Practices (Needs a better name, essentially "don't leave the lights + fan + GIANT pc on when not in use, etc)
