1. Write a press release
2. Generate a press contacts list - or find one by searching press list .xls on google
3. Email the contacts. If unsolicited, don't do attachements - but paste into email body
4. Build the relationships - meet editors and reporter
5. If you are doing publicity, document who you contacted
