Low-Altitude Parachute-Extraction
From Open Source Ecology
Basics
- A technique of Airdropping of Air Cargo that uses a parachute (Usually Just a Drouge Chute ), To pull the cargo out of the cargo plane's rear ramp onto a surface below it
- It is still non contact (ie no landing) but is almost as precise, and causes almost as little shock as doing so
- Either the materials need to be able to survive the shock, or the skid must absorb it
- This is also a risky manuver requiring skilled piloting
- Is simpler than,, but can be replaced by using a Guided Cargo Parachute
- Useful When you Can't Land, but want the cargo in a precise area
