Microwave Pyrolysis
Basics
- Pyrolysis where the primary heating is done via Microwave Radiation rather than Conduction through a heated drum (Such as in Batch Paintcan Pyrolysis or Similar Pyrolysis Retorts , or convection+conduction via heated air (Such as in a Rotary Kiln )
- This has the advantage of Electricity being the primary “fuel” rather than Fossil LPG etc
- Some challenges include the need for Explosion Proof Wiring / Intrinsically Safe Design
(Or at LEAST Proper Ventilation + Pressure Relief Valves with Flare Stacks / Sufficiently Distant Blow Down Drums to avoid Ignition by Circuitry in the event of Flammable Gas/Vapor or Aerosol Release
