Understand the difference between median and midrange: [1]

Midrange - [2]

Midrange is useful for 3D printer frames. Define the equality measurement not by an absolute value - but by the value that you have - and a midpoint between them. So for example, all the 4 corners of a frame cube must be +/- 1/16" - where the reference point is taken as the a midrange (midpoint) between the high and low point. This is usually not the median or the mean. Means can be skewed grossly by outliers on the high and low side. Medians are just the middle point - which can be accurate assuming a large pool of similar - for example - income levels. But for machine builds, we don't care about the mean or median - we care about midrange.

Why do we care about deviation from midrange? Because as long as everything lines up to within a certain amount from the mid-range, we have a functional machine.
