• USA poll - about 1/3 of the population thinks we are spending too much on the military - [1]
• Aircraft carriers are acceptable politically due to their high effectiveness to cost ratio - [2]. However, a good case can be made that they are lucrative and doomed targets due to existing and emerging technology because the affair is asymmetric - [3]. Good case is China launching over 1000 long range missiles at a cost same as a single aircraft carrier.
