Other Communications

From: Kevin Jones Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2010 12:16 PM

actually if the road show goes to asheville nc, my son and son in law, both builders, one and architect, the other a permaculture farmer who's built a house out of earth bags and lived off the grid for four years, would be deeply interested and would host you and put together people who would get it. is that a possibility? on sf and berkeley, kevin casey needs to be in your loop. he builds tiny houses and has funding.

From Anthony, October 19 -

You may want to talk to these people as well about hosting events or about informing their members of your talk. I spoke to both in person about that and they said they'd like to learn more.

Logistics and Questions

Presentation Details: I have a Linux laptop, so if anyone suspects that the digital projector won't work, please also bring a compatible laptop. I will carry my presentation on a memory stick.

  • Monday, Nov. 15: arrival at 11:45 AM at SFO, Edward McCullough is picking me up. He is a subject matter expert on extraction of metals from silicates, and we'll discuss a proposal for producing aluminum from clays, among other topics. He is a polymath, and has experience in several engineering disciplines.
  • Cotati contact is Judith Newton who is the founder of Transition Cotati (which was the 4th Transition Town in the US).
    • It appears that I may have transportation from San Francisco to Cotati on Tuesday care of Ania Moniuszko.
    • Lodging is organized by Judith at FrogSong Co-Housing.
    • Tod Brilliant from Post-Carbon Institute is also interested in meeting prior to the presentation to discuss how his organization may get involved in helping to develop the GVCS.
    • Potluck at FrogSong at 5:30, discussion at 6:30
  • Scott McKeown, Scott Mathieson, and Susan Butler are contacts for Transition Sebastopol.
    • Scott Mathieson is offering a tour of Laguna Farm CSA prior to the presentation on Wednesday, and wants to know when he should pick me up from Cotati.
    • Scott McKeown is organizing accommodations for that night.
  • Seems that transportation is still needed for me on Thursday from Sebastopol to most likely San Francisco. I requested Scott McKeown to request this to his core team members.
  • I have gotten offers of accommodations from Ania, Lloyd, and Anthony in San Francisco/Berkeley.
  • Saturday visit to Isaiah - I need transportation to and from Aptos, near Santa Cruz.
  • My return flight is on Sunday at about noon from SFO.
