Cancellations

All sales are final because it is difficult to substitute people at the last moment. In case of the unlikely events such as weather, disease, or civil unrest, we will be offering the course at a later date. If a schedule conflict arises for you, you are welcome to come to our next event. Your tickets may be exchangeable for another event of equal value in the future, or you can transfer the your tickets to someone else to take your place.

Postponement

OSE reserves the right to postpone an event in the event of insufficient registrations, cancellations, or participant postponements. If a minimum quota of participants is stated and is not reached, the event will be postponed to the next scheduled cycle. In this case, the tuition and fees are simply transferred to the next event. If OSE cancels an event due to unforeseen circumstances, then participants may postpone their participation to another same or similar event in the future, with sales remaining final.

Dismissal

Workshop participants may be dismissed under the following conditions of misconduct, defined as willful violation of rules, standards, or community norms:

  • Repeated violation of clear safety rules.
  • Repeated violation of respectful conduct to others, including but not limited to insults, personal attacks, harassment, or ad hominem.
  • Toxic, disruptive, or persistently disrespectful conduct such as persistent negativity, hostility, or disruptive conduct that materially undermines the collaborative culture or supportive learning environment.
  • Openly aggressive behavior or anger issues, especially if resulting in minor bodily harm or minor property damage.
  • Failure to collaborate openly, including withholding or concealing know-how that should be openly published.
  • Absenteeism or tardiness without valid excuse, especially after warnings.
  • Theft, dishonesty, insubordination, or other acts of bad faith.
  • Showing up under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Destruction of property or endangerment of others.

Under dismissal conditions, the following refund terms apply once a person arrives on site:

  • Prior to start of workshop: 70% refund of tuition paid, and no reimbursement for lodging or food costs, if any have been paid.
  • After start of workshop: 70% refund of tuition paid, and no reimbursement for lodging or food costs, if any have been paid. The 70% of the tuition refund is pro-rated based on the number of days participating. Specifically: Refund = (1-N/T) (0.7*Tuition) where N is the number of days participated, including partial days - and T is the Total duration of workshop in days. For example, for a 14 day, program - if a participant is dismissed after 3 days, then their refund for $1000 tuition paid (example) is Refund = (1-3/14)(0.7*$1000)= $550
  • If dismissal is deemed egregious - defined as theft, assault, serious health and safety breaches, dishonesty, abuse, vengeance, or conduct that poses a danger to others - then no refund shall be given and further corrective or punitive actions may result.

Early Leave from Volunteering

We understand that contingencies come up, and here are our terms for early leave from volunteering or work exchange.

For participants who are volunteering or doing work exchange, and have paid partial tuition, food, or lodging costs:

  • Tuition may be applied to future participation, just like in the case of participant cancellations, where all sales are final
  • Food and lodging costs: payments may be applied to future participation in the same or similar event. If participant no longer wishes to participate in the future, then a 50% cancellation penalty will apply to the food and lodging costs. For example, if a person paid $360 for food and lodging, their refund will be $180.
