2025 Chat Design

  • Chat discusses opensourcing an engine. Diesels last longer. Gas can be industrial, too. Start with gas EFI engine - from first principles it is much easier to design a gas than diesel to to the higher compression of diesel (more structure) and high fuel pressure (if EFI). Move from gasoline to the diesel once we perfect the gasoline version. Lots of open content (Speeduino, rusEFI) - turns out rusEFI has a full open source stack including tuning, whereas the tuning in Speeduino is proprietary.
  • Cost - $400 or so, down to $200 in distributed production

  • Since the board purchased is $300 or so, you can DIY it for about $30 in components + PCB
  • For the MAP, position sensor, injector, oxygen sensor, TPS, etc - what is total cost of sensors? Continue here [1]
