Basics
- Scramjet stands for Supersonic Combustion Ramjet
- An aircraft grade scramjet
- Similar to the ramjet, except that it doesn't slow down the air to subsonic speeds for combustion
- Beacuse you are keeping combustion going at supersonic speeds, these engines are often described as being "like trying to keep a candle lit in a hurricane"
- They are very usefull for hypersonic speeds (~ Mach 6 or Greater)
