Basics

  • The Regulatory/Industry term for any time a Hose is put OVER THE WATER between vessels and/or the shore
  • Special regulations aimed at Eliminating the risk of an incedent resulting in an Oil Spill etc are required by the Coast Guard et al

Main Things

  • At least one PIC (Person in Charge) Trained Operator + All Your Regulatory Paperwork Ducks in a Row
  • Large (20lb if i remember correctly) Fire Extinguisher + No Smoking/Open Lights Sign Out
  • Secondary Containment Around the Connections On Shore (Think Sausage Boom + Drip Pans Mainly)
  • Stay by the Shutoff+Be in Contact+Aware
  • Tape and/or Pin any Cam Lock fittings on hoses etc so they don’t come loose and spew schlop all over the ecosystem
  • NEVER leave a fitting between hose sections dangling over the water, either have it fully on shore or fully on the vessel, this way even if anything happens it os containable
  • Have your gear on good working order (+ Hydrostatic Testing of Hoses and Hose Log etc)
  • Know your contacts+info in case anything goes wrong
