About this page

This page is about methods to reach personal peak performance.

Learning

Memory

Amongst the most common ways to learn, teaching to others is by far one of the best ways to make sure you have assimilated and properly understood the materials that you want to learn/teach. The world leading memory athletes uses visualization techniques and story narratives. They create visual libraries of meaning, which are then combined in various ways to encode information. The first time I tried this technique my results were outside the chart of a common psychological memory test - there were no more items on the previously thought redundant list of items to memorize.

Transcranial direct currents has also been shown to double the rate of learning, and is especially effective when applied as a sinus-wave. The neurons are put in a wet state and rewires more readily and firmly. Long term side-effects are so far unknown.

Fluid Intelligence

There is so far only one known technique to increase IQ in adults, and that is dual-n-back. All other training is task-specific.

Internal cognitive complexity and integrated information

Meditation has shown to integrate the different brain regions. Stress has the opposite effect, and actually kills of brain cells in the middle of the brain which would otherwise help connect the various brain regions.

As the world becomes more and more complex, the demand on our ability to internalize outer complexity increases. This is also a potential source of social injustice as our ability to internalize structural complexity is to a high degree circumstantial.

Mental Models

Physical

Ketones creates more ATP per oxygen molecule than beta-glucose does and has many mental benefits as an energy source. The problem is that they are acid which can be bad for health if you have too much ketones in your blood. Ketones are created by your body if you have low enough blood sugar. It is also created as a side effect when the body break down fatty acids 8-12 carbon atoms long.
