Polarity
DC Solenoids
- Solenoids attract a piece of metal to a magnetic field - the polarity of the field does not matter thus the polarity of voltage applied to the solenoid also does not matter. Clear explanation at All About Circuits - [1]
- Exception - if there are other components in addition to the solenoid itself - then it may matter. Such as a protective flyback diode or current limiter circuit etc [2]
