I want to write / talk to the them. I don't know if they're into open source culture, but worth a shot. If nothing else, we may get more leads. What do you think?

  • I tried not to go the university route, but here's a prof at UC Davis that has apparently built some systems: Ruihong Zhang, an engineering professor, sees methane and hydrogen in yard clippings, household table scraps and other biodegradable materials. Zhang has built both pilot and commercial-scale anaerobic digesters, funded by the California Energy Commission, Cal Recycle and industry partners, including Clean World Partners, LLc, and Onsite Power Systems Inc. The concept is garbage in, energy out, including "biogas" to burn in vehicle engines or electric generators. Zhang also conducts research and technology development on ethanol and other biofuel production from energy beets and lignocellulosic biomass with funding from California Energy Commission and industry partner Mendota Bioenergy, LLC.
