Basics

  • The application of Data Collection and Analysis Based Optimization to Agriculture
  • Mainly uses GIS utilizing Satellite Imaging , Aerial Imagery (Often from ROVs ) , In-Soil Sensors, and In-Vehicle Sensors
  • This is then used to determine
    • Nutrient Deficiencies
    • Water Needs
    • Pest and Weed Amounts, and Locations
  • This allows for:
    • Increased Yeilds
    • Less inputs such as
      • Fertilizer
      • Pesticide
  • Also complements the development of new Crop Varieties via getting more specific data on things such as Drought Tolerance, etc
