RSS is probably not going away because it organizes news data for semantics. It’s likely to resurge now because 1. Breakdown with twitter has caused people to decentralize. 2. New services like Bluesky will inspire more people with blogs and news to use rss to sync to more platforms (a result of decentralization), 3. As we enter into Web 3.0, the Semantic Web, RSS becomes more important because it provides a straightforward way for computers to communicate and learn. RSS plus JSON are healthy and strong. New protocols like AT Protocol don’t replace RSS, they go hand in hand together. As long as people continue to blog and write news articles that have a title, a description, a date, an author, a photo and URL, RSS is life blood.
