Residency Program
OSE's Residency Program involves inviting select open source developers to work with us on prioritized development projects. Residency participants receive a full allowance for accommodations and travel to Factor e Farm, and may qualify for a stipend. Residency participants become involved in our Learning Factory extreme design/build process. We will select individuals with a track record of open development experience to incubate and develop the Last Mile of product realization for their respective project - which contributes to developing OSE's immersion workshops as an exloratory way of funding the open source industrial revolution - the fourth industrial revolution.
Prioritized areas of development focus on the GVCS, but because of the integrated scope of the GVCS - many related projects qualify. While the GVCS is a set of 50 machines - it is much broader than that. It includes an entire platform for open development - sophisticated processes and business models for tapping the power of unleashed, collaborative innovation. Therefore, many ancillary areas of systems design, open hardware, information architecture, communications, software engineering, organizational development, and social enterprise are involved.
We are offering the Factor e Farm development facility for your use to carry out your project: our Workshop, Electronics Workshop (construction starting May, 2014), our Design Sprint team and contacts, access to our social media, agriculture facilities, and equipment infrastructure - after taking use courses on our topics.
The duration of the program is 3 months. A prerequisite is participating in at least one of our Design Sprints, Immersion Workshops, on-site participation in our Summer or Spring break sessions - or another form of collaboration - such as organizing a Chapter, lecture, or other form of participation that demonstrates alignment with our organizational culture.
We are currently collecting a list of potential candidates. If you are interested, we are now gauging initial interest in this work. If you would like to be considered for an OSE Residency - please review our Machine Status and RFPs, and submit your contact information, and a summary statement of interest regarding what you'd like to develop.
