Self-Determination Metric
Self-determination can be measured by:
- Self-Esteem. Feeling of worth, meaning, and confidence permeating through one's life.
- Congruence. Agreement between one's values and actions.
- Authenticity. Pursuing one's true interests.
- Purpose. A calling larger than oneself.
- Quality of life. Having physical needs met, good health, relationships, and lifelong learning.
- Autonomy. Ability to direct one's own actions, and to not interfere with healthful actions of others.
- Collaboration. Autonomous people are in the best position to collaborate. Being in harmony with others.
- Nonviolence. Not hurting or killing others or nature.
- Balance. Keeping a cyclic flow of natural resources without degrading them, and embodying the 8 measures above.
