Self-Determination Metric

Self-determination can be measured by:

  1. Self-Esteem. Feeling of worth, meaning, and confidence permeating through one's life.
  2. Congruence. Agreement between one's values and actions.
  3. Authenticity. Pursuing one's true interests.
  4. Purpose. A calling larger than oneself.
  5. Quality of life. Having physical needs met, good health, relationships, and lifelong learning.
  6. Autonomy. Ability to direct one's own actions, and to not interfere with healthful actions of others.
  7. Collaboration. Autonomous people are in the best position to collaborate. Being in harmony with others.
  8. Nonviolence. Not hurting or killing others or nature.
  9. Balance. Keeping a cyclic flow of natural resources without degrading them, and embodying the 8 measures above.
