Semi-Synthetic Fibers

From Open Source Ecology

Basics

  • Natural Fibers that have been refined, typically via chemical means
  • Typically done in a manner similar to recrystalizing crystals, the fiber is dissolved in a solvent, and the solvent is evaporated, or reacted away, and the fiber is reformed into a more consistent fiber
  • Has the biodegradability of natural fibers, and many of the similar charachteristics, but with more consistency, and even variable properties
  • All/Nearly All (Need to research more into this) are cellulose based
