The singularity is a point of runaway technology that marks the 'end of human life' and beginning of the machine age. It is seen as a good thing by some, and a bad thing by others. Ideally, there would be harmony between humans, nature, and technology - where technology provides benefits to humans, instead of harming them.

Wake up Neo, take a few packets of red tablets - and notice we are already there. Many elements of 'runaway technology' are already here. It seems that technology, massive institutions, and other human creations on an inappropriate scale have ended human control over the destiny of the planet.

To improve our current condition, Open Source Appropriate Technology must be unleashed, along with a different paradigm for the singularity - the Collaborative Singularity.
