Precision Agriculture
(Redirected from Smart Farming)
Basics
- The application of Data Collection and Analysis Based Optimization to Agriculture
- Mainly uses GIS utilizing Satellite Imaging , Aerial Imagery (Often from ROVs ) , In-Soil Sensors, and In-Vehicle Sensors
- This is then used to determine
- Nutrient Deficiencies
- Water Needs
- Pest and Weed Amounts, and Locations
- This allows for:
- Increased Yeilds
- Less inputs such as
- Fertilizer
- Pesticide
- Also complements the development of new Crop Varieties via getting more specific data on things such as Drought Tolerance, etc
