Solar Energy
SolSmart provides technical assistance to address soft costs of solar. [1]
Work with them to get our hybrid system permitted nationally and to create special provisions within the NEC for House Integrated Solar Systems (meaning roof integrated, design integrated and not retrofit) for standardizing solar on new construction.
This same article shows current residential utility costs of 13 cents, utility-scale targets of 2 cents/kWhr, and residential scale solar targets at 5 cents/kWhr. This implies a 150% markup by power companies. This is almost as bad as the 200% markup in home construction between the subcontractors and contractors - see Cost Comparison of the Seed Eco-Home to Industry Standards. Lifetime Design should be explored here to deliver solar energy at near Zero Marginal Cost where the savings are passed on to consumers to enable a high quality of life.
