Misnomer
"Speed Reading" is perhaps a misnomer, as effective reading comprehension does not mean that you simply read words faster. It is more about picking out the information that is needed by various techniques, such as reading the back and front, table of contents, reading the first paragraphs of chapters, reading the first and last sentence of a paragraph, and others. Moreover, reading is not the same as retention, so note taking and re-reading are parts of the equation.
