The Research on Cell Senescence and the kind of "Biological Clock" aspect of aging, combined with all the Cancer Research, combined with all the Replacement Organ Work ( Xenotransplantation and/or Putting Stem Cells from the Patient into "washed out" donor organs ( Decellularization ) (so much less of an Organ Shortage Issue, and no Rejection Issues) and/or "From Scratch" Bio-Printing Stem Cell Organs and/or Artificial (Robotic) Organs) is really going to lead to something interesting.

Granted the class impacts of this can be spooky (re " Altered Carbon " ); without the step of Inheritance / Generational Wealth, which in theory kind of distributes that wealth and power amongst heirs, Single Individuals could accrue Huge Power and Piles of Wealth.

Also who owns/controls the technology? If Healthcare Inequality is an issue with simple Dental Care / ER Visits, would crazy Organ Transplants and Gene Therapy be only for the rich, or only people in certain countries etc?

I hope that the combination of Single Payer Healthcare (or some sort of centralized, or at least People over Profits and kind of Evidence/Outcome based, not "number goes up, yay!" based system) and the general Maker Movement / the DIY Bio movement prevent that!

Given that the Human Genome Project only finished in just ~2003 (or if you want to be snobby just this/last year due to small sections + error correction) and we are at a point where you can order a cheap kit and get your dna mapped and analyzed (~~spooky aspects of that beside lol~~), as well as all the stuff like how easy gene editing is getting with CRISPR Gene Editing , or how far medicine is coming (Diseases being eradicated, things that were death sentences being either cured (advanced cancers) or made livable with medication (HIV-AIDS), Joint Replacements, etc) it is definitely an exciting time to be alive though!
