Basics

  • The newest connector standard for USB
  • Capable of transmitting large amounts of power and data
  • It is reversible (ie it can be plugged in "upside-down")
  • It has the same port on both sides of the cable (assuming an adapter is not being used)
  • It is more durable than micro-usb
  • It can also carry Thunderbolt 3, which is a powerful, yet closed source, port (It can be used for eGPUs and high speed data transfer at ~40GB/s

Use for DC Power Delivery

  • The USB C Port can carry a suprising amount of dc power, 20 V at 5 A (or less)
