Whole Earth Catalog

Dear folks,

The Whole Earth Catalog series of books, published by the Portola Institute and later on by the former Point Foundation during the 1968-1998s era, is, in a broad sense, the Open Source Ecology's precursor. Those books were at the heart of the Calfornian counter culture of the late 1960s.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs though about is as the "Google" of his time, albeit being about 30 years ahead of it's time. And yet it is still a monumental piece of work. They contain a wealth of practical information to have a sustainable, independent and/or community living in rural areas. Reading about your Open Source Ecology project at www,NRC.nl (a major Dutch business news paper), it made me think about The Whole Earth.

I've noted that the Whole Earth Catalog is mentioned a few times on OpenSourceEcology.org domain, but no direct hyperlinks are given yet. Well. For the sake of your great project, it is highly advised to get copies of those valuable series of books, to spread the wisdom, knowledge and practical know-how therein among your community of farmers and inventors.
