- Hobbies and Pastimes - For as long as I can remember I've had a love of travel. The more exciting, the more worth while. But after living abroad, and travelling over 40 countries my focused has shifted. I am now wholly concerned with making my home, my country, a place worth being.
WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
- Do you endorse open source culture?
Wholly.
- Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
To help bring about fundamental socio-cultural transition as soon as possible.
- Are you interested in teaching about the GVCS?
Perhaps.
- Are you interested in economic relocalization possibilities arising from the GVCS?
Perhaps.
- Do you want to use the GVCS technologies yourself? Do you want to build them yourself?
Yes.
- Are you interested in starting up enterprise using the GVCS technologies?
Yes.
- Are you interested in having the GVCS technologies fabricated by your local custom fabricator?
Yes.
- Are you interested in applying the GVCS to third world development? To redevelopment of crisis areas? To development of derelict areas in the developed world?
Yes.
- Are you interested in starting up Industry 2.0 flexible fabrication enterprises for your local community, by drawing from a global repository of freely down-loadable designs and fabricating using open source fabrication equipment?
Absolutely.
- Are you interested in the potential of the GVCS for developing local food systems?
Yes.
- Are you interested in doing academic studies/papers, publishing books, or doing other analysis of our efforts?
Perhaps.
- Are you interested in financial investment opportunities arising from our work?
No.
- Are you interested in the distributive economic aspects of our work, and if so, how do you see this playing out?
Maybe, but I don't understand the question.
- Are you interested in building renewable energy production facilities based on open hardware (solar concentrator electric, wind, biomass power)?
Absolutely. Everywhere, constantly.
- Are you interested in building resilient communities based on access to the GVCS?
Very much, yes.
- Are you interested in creating a bug-out hut using GVCS technologies?
Perhaps.
- How do you think that the GVCS can help alleviate the instabilities of global monetary systems?
By individuating means of industrial manufacturing, thus alleviating dependence on over-arching systems of control, allowing for a transition away from global monetary systems.
- How do you think that the GVCS can address issues related to resource conflicts?
It will remove the downward pressure of monopolized/globalized market forces, but to be honest I'm interested to see how it will play out in a local/micro circumstance. To answer the question: I don't know, but I'd like to be engaged in the experience.
- How do you think that the GVCS can address issues of overpopulation?
I don't think there are issues of overpopulation...
- How do you think that the GVCS can address issues of resource depletion and environmental degradation?
By likely taking supranational/non-local industry out of the equation, which I would imagine would likely decrease environmental degradation. I don't know what to say about resource depletion, if theres a market for it, it's usually going to fly off the shelf.
- Do you have any other comments that you'd like to make?
I detest corporate agri-business. I detest all supranational corporate and financial entities, but particularly mega-agri.
- What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
Allow me the opportunity. I'm what they call a "go-getter".
- What are you missing in the project?
Hands-on experience with OSE.
- What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
N/A
WHAT
- What have you already contributed to the OSE project? (technical contributions, blogging about us, financial support, organizing events, translations, interviews, video editing, publications, publicity work, behind-the-scenes work, CAD work, wiki contributions, computer support, etc)
N/A
Communications
- My undergraduate minor is in Photojournalism, from the University of Texas School of Communication. I managed my own political campaign, entirely, with positive results undoubtedly due to privately designed and manufactured signage.
Organizational
- I was a noncommissioned officer, Sergeant, in the US Army, serving as a JAG Legal Specialist. Of course that only qualifies my knowing Uniform Code of Military Justice, but I can stumble through other law. Being a Sergeant also provided operations management experience. I was an all-state actor in High School, and cast in the University of Texas Honors Colloquium Summer Cast while still in High School; I've been public speaking since I could find a public.
Computer Support
- I am not any of those things, but I am diving head first into Arduino and physical computing with the intent to automate organic gardens. I am a fast learner, and things have been moving along nicely.
Finances
- No.
Sociology
- Perhaps.
Home Economics
- I am eager to say yes to all of the above, but as I am a bit out of practice I am cautious. I grew up home schooled, for the first 12 years, on the multi-generational 12,000 acre family ranch. We raised beef and angora goats primarily, but I got a taste for any variety of wild game production, as well as simple home vegetable gardening. My mother also owned a deer processing facility, so I am familiar with the process. My current masters research is on the Motivations and Practices of Alternative Agriculturalists, so I've had the opportunity to interview a number of unique agriculturalists and gain from their knowledge as well. And I used to could bake a baguette from scratch by memory when I worked at Texas French Bread, so I would say I'm am a better cook than most.
Design
- No, but I honestly believe I could learn very quickly.
Building
- I'm fairly good with my hands, and again, I learn quickly thanks to determination and confidence, but I haven't yet had an opportunity to do any of the above mentioned work for more than personal development so far in life. I have done a large amount of physical labor growing up on a ranch and in a rural community, as well as in serving in the Army.
Electronics and Magnetics
- I have just recently begun to teach myself electronics, geared mostly toward Arduino development projects.
Automation
- No.
Metallurgy
- No.
Engineering
- No.
HOW can you help?
- How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
In any way that I might. I'll take out OSE's garbage (though its my understanding there isn't much of it). I am hard worker that pays attention to detail while maintaining a high work ethic.
- Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
I'm not sure how that works. I'm not familiar enough with the expectations of a Project Based Development Team visit to know what time I have. I'd be glad to if it is possible.
- Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
I'm not sure how that works. I'm not familiar enough with the expectations of a Project Based Development Team visit to know what time I have. I'd be glad to if it is possible.
- Are you interested in Dedicated Project Visit?
I believe this is what my team (Broken Sidewalk Farms) is involved in.
- Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Perhaps.
- Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
Perhaps.
- Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
No, because this is the first I've been asked/made aware, and I feel a bit pressured, but theres a reasonable chance that I will become a True Fan soon.
- Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Perhaps.
- Are you interested in being part of the world's first, open source, resilient community? The GVCS is the preparatory step for the OSE Village Experiment - a 2 year, immersion experiment (2013-2014) for testing whether a real, thriving, modern-day prototype community of 200 people can be built on 200 acres using local resources and open access to information? We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology - as a beacon of light to benefit of all people on Earth.
Perhaps.
