• The area in which any robot can theoretically operate
• More specifically this can be called the "Maximum Work Envelope"

Restricted Envelope

• The Section of the Maximum Work Envelope to which the robot is limited by Limit Devices such as Limit Switches or physical shields in a Robot Cell etc

Operating Envelope

• The part of the Restricted Envelope that a particular operation will cross
• This is the most dangerous place
