XM Nonstrategic Resource Analysis
This is an analysis of the abundance of material resources that go into the making of a device. This is an assessment of the nature of required materials from the standpoint of strategic vs. non-strategic resources. Non-strategic resources are ones that are by their nature abundant - such as clay for smelting aluminum or soil for growing plants for bioplastics - and do not tend to cause resource conflicts over their procurement. Reliance upon non-strategic resources helps to bring about peaceful relations between regions. From the OSE perspective, it is useful to figure out how to provide needs via reliance on common, abundant feedstocks, rather than geographically concentrated ones such as oil or diamonds.
For many GVCS tools at present, steel is a common feedstock. Access to this resource (via junkyards or steel mills) should be analized in the Nonstrategic Resource Analysis to determine whether access to such resources allows for the production of certain GVCS tools.
