Introduction
Factor e Farm (FeF) is a socio-technical experiment. It aims to take everything that civilization has learned to date, and determine whether it is feasible to use abundant local resources to create modern civilization, up to semiconductor and metal production - on the scale of a parcel of land - at 2 hours of work per day - using local resources. This is a Big Hairy Audacious Goal, but its achievement implies the possibility of solving Wicked Problems.
Economics
We are experimenting with what it would look like if a dozen or two productive humans were able to achieve a full resilient lifestyle, by tapping power, appropriate industrial technology - to master maintenance at no more than a few hours per year - to attain raw industrial power of 33 hp each, and collectively - about a megawatt of power - to ascertain local production of food, housing, energy, and technology - with no tasks outsourced. This implies $100/hr productivity levels to gnerate a minimum of $36k of value per person, or about $1M of equivalent value generated.
