Summary
A schematic of a bioreactor as how it works in real life. The schematic was made based on http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bioreactor_principle.svg and on information in the book "Wie functioniert das ? Technik heute, F.A. Brockhaus AG, Mannheim 1998.
Note that it may be possible that some bioreactors are also capable of controlling the motor for the agitation, based on the data from the sensors. Some valves are not shown. The steam seems to be used to prevent contamination in/from inlet/outlet pipes.
